EF 3.1 ships this flow with the Volume flow property and `m3`, inherited from the ILCD reference elementary flow it copies; ecoinvent, whose name this is, gives the same substance in `m3` at 3.8 and relabels it `Sm3` from 3.9 under an unchanged UUID, and BAFU reports its two rows in `m3` and `Nm3`. A cubic metre of gas is not a quantity until the temperature and pressure it was measured at are stated, which is the whole difference between the two spellings: `units.json` reads `m3` as a volume and `sm3` as an amount of substance, 42.38 mol at 15 degrees and 1 atm per ISO 91:2017. So the bare volume is the reading that cannot be right for a gas resource, and following ecoinvent's own relabelling is what puts the lists in one unit.\n\nThe factor is 1.0 and is stated rather than assumed: this is a relabelling of what EF already meant, not a rescaling of anybody's amounts, and without the number the rewrite would be a silent reinterpretation of them. `units.json` implies nothing between the two -- they are different quantity kinds -- so 1.0 is a claim it could not have made for itself. What it claims is that EF's cubic metre on this flow was always gas at the conditions ecoinvent states. (#412)"
